Editing Assistance Across Multiple Formats

You’ve come to the right place for copy editing and proofreading for books, articles, webpages, blog posts, or whatever else you’re creating.

In this self-publishing world, how often have you picked up a book from Amazon and found it filled with typos and grammatical errors? Even books from name-brand publishers have an occasional typo.

No matter what you write, an editor is an invaluable part of your publishing process. I’d love to help you inspire your readers by adding the final polish to your creative work.

Contact me. I look forward to hearing about your project!

Sample Editing

What is a sample edit?
This is a great way to see if my editing style matches your needs. I charge $60 for a 1000-word sample, and if you like my editing style and want to work with me, I’ll reduce your editing fee by $60.

After contacting me, you can generally send a sample at any time, and I’ll turn it around within two business days.

Why does it matter?
The sample edit is a great way for each of us to get a sense of each other. After a sample edit, we choose to work together. You can let me know if you like my approach in its entirety, or you can share your preferences with me, and I can edit the rest of your manuscript with that in mind.

Editorial Assessment

What is an editorial assessment?

This is perfect for authors who want a comprehensive overview of their manuscript before editing starts.

This service offers feedback on flow, pacing, what’s working, what isn’t working, areas of excellence, areas of improvement, and an overall review of your book from a reader’s perspective. I will not directly edit your book in this service.

The price is $.013/per word.

Why does it matter?

This process is a wonderful way to have someone else offer perspective on your manuscript. Sometimes, as the author, it is difficult to see what might be missing or not making sense.

It also is an excellent way to receive feedback on basic grammatical habits you may have that do not meet current standards. A common example of that is placing two spaces after a sentence-ending punctuation. That was common decades ago but is no longer standard practice.

Considering the feedback from an editorial assessment makes the editing process easier for me and for you, as fewer changes will be suggested.

For either package, after I’ve started work, if you increase the word count by more than 1,000 or ask for a modification to the services agreed upon, the price will be adjusted accordingly.

I do not verify citations; if you’d like help with citations, this is a useful tool: https://www.citationmachine.net/

Contact me to discuss your project and receive a full quote.

After agreeing that we’re a good fit for each other, you will send me your manuscript as a Word document, and I will use Track Changes. This tool allows you to see the changes or suggestions I made to your text, and you have the option of accepting or rejecting those changes. When necessary, I’ll also insert Comments, explaining my logic for suggestions or changes.
